About Voices Rock California
Voices Rock delivers a distinctive musical and community experience to adults seeking connection, artistry, and joy. We welcome anyone 17+ who wants to sing, regardless of background or prior training. Our mission is rooted in a simple belief: when people sing together, the world becomes more empathetic, inclusive, and joyful.
We offer a no-pressure, come-as-you-are environment where adults can express themselves artistically in the company of others. No singer is ever turned away for lack of ability to pay. We maintain strong community values through charitable work and outreach performances.
Voices Rock California was founded by Betsy Leighton in 2025, following her co-founding of Voices Rock in Denver ten years earlier. The California chapter launched its first choir in Silverlake and completed two successful sessions, culminating in highly attended and enthusiastically received concerts. With strong early growth and community response, the organization is now expanding to Westlake. Voices Rock in Denver ten years ago. Voices Rock began in late 2014 as the brainchild of Betsy Marino Leighton, later bringing on vocal director Jill Teas. By 2018, the Denver choir exceeded 160 singers, performed at Red Rocks during SeriesFest, and made a flash-mob appearance during a TEDxCherryCreekWomen talk. This foundation of accessibility, joy, and artistic excellence informs Voices Rock California today.
